“the first full international conference organised by InSiGHT took place from 14th to 17th June 2005 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead UK hosted by the Institute of Human Genetics and Life Knowledge Park, University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The meeting was preceded by a one day meeting of the UK Cancer Genetics Group. A total attendance of 425 people took part over the four days with representation from across the world including North and South America, South Africa, Australia and the "Far East". There were a total of 63 oral presentations, including a series of key note addresses, and 154 poster presentations. The principal sponsors were Bayer Corporation and The Life Knowledge Park, a government sponsored programme with a focus on genetic instability. Other sponsors included SLA Pharma, LGC Ltd, Sequenom Ltd, Applied Imaging LTD and Promega Corporation. Attendees included colorectal surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors and genetic nurse practititoners."
