In 1999, at the combined meeting of International Collaborative Group on Hereditary Non Polyposis Colorectal Cancer (ICG-HNPCC) and the Leeds Castle Polyposis Group (LCPG) in Lorne, Australia, there were formal discussion about uniting the two groups. In Venice, in 2001, the membership of the two groups approved a proposal to form a new international society for hereditary gastrointestinal tumours. Since then, the Joint Councils have been active in creating a constitution and an administrative structure for the new organization tobe known as InSiGHT.
